| The INFOPEN's
objective is the electronic registering and identification
of the guilty population. The registering process covers
the acquisition of the textual information, photos and fingerprints.
The project was developed in partnership
with the Antheus Tecnologia, ORACLE of Brazil,
UNISYS of Brazil and PROCERGS(Data Processing
company of Rio Grande do Sul state).
National amplitude project for the entire management
of the Brazilian penitentiary system. The project's
pilot is in operation at Presídio Central de Porto Alegre,
doing the access control (entrance / leaving ) of the
visitors and guilty by means of fingerprint comparing.
The guilt's information can be directly gotten in
the documents of the process or at the CIA's
(Guilt's Control and Identification ) database for
those that already were condemned by the justice.
The fingerprints allow verify the truly identity of
the registered guilty independently of the documents
or data showed.
The INFOPEN is composed by a central system and
remote terminals. The remote system uses client/server
architecture, it is a local network composed by recognition
stations, a Windows NT server and Oracle database.
The recognition stations are client applications
for Windows 9x, provided with fingerprint sensors,
digital cams and printers. The central system,
located at PROCERGS, holds the CIA's information
that are refreshed at every new alteration in the INFOPEN's base.
In the INFOPEN's project, VOXEL Engenharia de Sistemas
was responsible for the integration of
the remote systems with the PROCERGS's
central system.
The integration covered the specification
and development of the communication tools,
protocols and interface with the recognition
station's system.
The protocols integrate the remote applications
with the PROCERGS's server COBOL programs.
The communication with the hardware at PROCERGS
can be done by TCP/IP communication protocols
on a Ethernet network or by dial-up phone line.
The system's development proceeding covered object
orientated modelling and implementation on Microsoft Visual C++ 4.0.
